Direct transfer labels are printed by directly heating areas of the label, without using an ink ribbon. They are generally less durable, as the print is prone to fading and damage from water, chemicals and stripes. They are commonly used for temporary applications where long-term durability is not critical, such as price tags, receipts, temporary shipping labels, etc.
